Houston Astros pitcher Justin Verlander said he will donate his weekly paychecks ($4,775 per week) to various charities that are helping people hurt by the Corona Virus Pandemic. Major League Baseball announced that players will continue to receive their paychecks while the season is suspended due to the virus,

Verlander and his wife Kate Upton, who married in 2017, said they will donate the money to a different charity each week, “so that we can support their efforts and highlight the great work they’re doing during the COVID-19 crisis.”

Verlander said, “Everyone around the world is affected by this virus, and we hope to contribute to the families and jobs affected, the healthcare workers and first responders on the front lines and the many others in need of basic necessities, medical supplies and support at home”. The pitcher said they will reveal the first charity to receive the donation when he gets his first check.
